ENT
Examination and surgery for conditions of the ear, nose and throat.
The ear, nose and throat are examined in detail using an endoscope and a microscope. These methods help assess areas that are difficult to see with the naked eye.
The Epley maneuver is a sequence of head and body positions used for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), a type of dizziness that originates in the inner ear. The cause of the dizziness is assessed in an examination first; the doctor decides whether the maneuver is appropriate.
Tonsillectomy is the surgical removal of the tonsils; adenoidectomy is the removal of the adenoids. The decision to operate is based on both the complaints and the examination findings.
Septoplasty is an operation to correct a deviation of the nasal septum, the wall between the two sides of the nose. Turbinate surgery covers procedures for enlarged turbinates, structures inside the nose. Both are planned after the nasal obstruction has been assessed.
Endoscopic sinus surgery is an operation in which the sinuses are reached through the nose with the help of an endoscope. Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is an operation for a blocked tear duct that creates a new pathway for tears to drain into the nose.
Laryngeal microsurgery is a surgical procedure performed under a microscope on lesions of the vocal cords and larynx. The cause of hoarseness is investigated in an examination first.
Aesthetics
Aesthetic procedures for the nose, ears and face.
In this approach, rhinoplasty is performed with the nasal area numbed by local anesthesia. "Without nasal packing" means that no packing is placed inside the nose at the end of the operation. Whether the approach is suitable is decided during examination, based on the structure of the nose and the planned procedure.
Rhinoplasty is nose surgery that addresses the shape of the nose and, where needed, breathing function. It can be performed with an open or closed technique, and in suitable patients under local anaesthesia. The technique and type of anaesthesia are decided individually after examination.
Before rhinoplasty, the nose and face are assessed on a computer using photographs taken from different angles. This helps in discussing expectations and planning the operation; it is not a definitive picture of the surgical result.
Otoplasty is an operation to adjust the shape and position of ears that stand out prominently. Suitability and method are assessed during examination.
Upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a surgical procedure in which excess skin and, where needed, fatty tissue of the upper eyelid is adjusted. Suitability is assessed by examination.
A brow lift is a procedure to adjust the position of the eyebrows in keeping with the structure of the face. The method is decided individually during examination.
Botulinum toxin (Botox) is used for lines caused by the movement of facial muscles and for treatments of the jaw muscle (masseter). Fillers are used to adjust volume and contour in the face. The treatment area and amount are planned individually.
Lip filler treatment adjusts the volume and shape of the lips using a filler. The treatment is planned with the proportions of the face and the person’s expectations in mind.
